About Me
tI begin my DJ career back in the beginning of the disco era “1978 “. I began working bars a few nights a week that started to have disco parties. There were no actual disco night clubs at that time. I met my long time friend Glen at a nightclub called "Derby II" on Orange New Jersey. He was the resident DJ there and hired me to work with him. If I remember correctly he got me very drunk the first week! We became longtime friends from that time and begin to DJ together for the next 8 to 10 years. At that point I was working about six nights per week at various nightclubs. I begin to really dig into the business. I was receiving promotional music from all the record companies to play in the nightclubs and was attending trade shows and networking with other DJs around the New Jersey New York area. Many of the disc jockeys that worked for me still have DJ careers today. DJ Joey B. (Joe Battista) and DJ Dave the rave (Dave Hicock).
Somewhere around 1982 I formed my first business. This was an entertainment company supplying disk jockeys to hotels, bars and nightclubs throughout the New Jersey / New York area. Within about two years I built up my Disk Jockey roster to about 15 entertainers. I had accounts with most of the major hotel chains including Hilton, Marriott, Radisson, Holiday Inn and Ramada. Their lounges were quickly becoming disco night clubs supplying disc jockey entertainment seven nights per week. Times where good! I continue to hone my skills as a disk jockey and business person. During the day I was visiting hotel and nightclub accounts and in the evening I was spinning records (that’s right actual vinyl records) at some of the hottest clubs in New Jersey. At that time I also began to install and lease out equipment for nightclubs in hotels and night clubs. Some of the clubs I worked at where Derby II, Turtlebrook, Doc Callahans, Captain G's, Illusions (North & South), Streamers and many others. In the late 90s country line dancing became extremely popular as disco night clubs began to fade. I partnered with a large catering facility and opened up a country line dancing nightclub with very progressive country music and line dancing. Several years later I began working at the most popular country line dancing club in New Jersey the Colorado café. The owner of the Colorado café several years later moved on to open up a huge country night club in Pennsylvania called Montana West in Quakertown, PA. I worked there for many years programming the music as well as their Disk Jockey and mechanical bull operator. Who wouldn't love to through people off a mechanical bull? In the early 2000’s I decided to retire from my longtime music career. In early 2019 I went to a disco party that my long time friend Joey B was performing at. We had a blast! I felt like I wanted to get back in and dabble a little bit in the new DJ Era. I purchased a laptop and a DJ controller and began to practice. Took me a little time to get used to the total digital format but love the new music transformation. I find that old-school DJ knowledge combined with the new electronic capabilities of computers and controllers can make for a very creative disk jockey. On this site you will find some mixed audio files of me getting started back in the DJ field. I have no intention of making a full-time career as a Disk Jockey. My main motive at this point is just to have fun and perform at some special events, parties and night clubs. I hope you enjoyed the abbreaited version of my Disk Jockey career.
